The new state-of-the-art 70,000 square foot, three-story laboratory was the first new structure to be built on the 330-acre Harriman Research and Technology Campus in Albany in decades and replaced an outdated facility, and houses the New York State Food Laboratory, as well as the State Metrology Laboratory, both divisions of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. Metrology is located on the ground floor, and food labs and offices occupy the upper floors. New state-of-the-art testing instrumentation and biological and chemical containment systems were installed in the new lab to enhance its current food safety and agricultural product testing programs. L & R worked with NYSOGS Opportunities Group on providing WMBE & EEO Outreach to firms and residents located in the Capital District during the preconstruction phase through workshops and informational meetings with the Unions and community groups. Compliance Monitoring was provided during the construction phase of the $30M construction project and L & R was responsible for attending project meetings, conducting site visits, reviewing monthly MWBE & EEO submittals, and completion of monthly MWBE & EEO reports to the New York State Office of General Services.
